About Me
I have been here in Clark County for the past 20 years, and in that time I have seen a great deal of change. Not just in the County itself, but also in the way we take care of our horses.
While I was in high school I spent some of my free time following other farriers around and learning some of the tricks of the trade. After high school I had the chance to attend Oregon State University. At the time they offered a Farrier Science program, and I spent the next 10 months, 40+ hours a week working under and around horses. We learned about the bio-mechanics of horses as well as how to trim and shoe them. After graduating from the program I worked under a Farrier in Prineville OR.
I always wanted to get back to Clark County so I opened up my books here also. After working in Clark County for a while, I had a chance to meet my lovely wife Kim! She was minding her own business enjoying her horses and doing some training for other horse owners. I had the chance to work on her horses and never left. That was in 2001, and in 2002 we were married - not in a church like most people, but in an arena. Yes, on a dirt floor! In July of 2003 we added Laci Ann to our family and in 2006 our son Cody Curtis. We live in Battle Ground and have 7 horses of our own.
I have always had a love for horses, so being a Farrier is a dream come true. I have worked as a traditional Farrier for the past 10 years. Since the beginning, I have always taken the time to find more research about horses and their hooves. I then found Pete Ramey and started reading about Natural Hoof Care. I found it to be a huge eye opener. I then decided to go to some of his clinics to further my education. Over the course of this time I saw how this could help lame horses. Seeing this I could only fathom about how I could make good footed horses great!
