Hoof Rehab Case Studies
BlackJack
BlackJack is a 7 year old Quarter Horse. He lives in Battle Ground,
Wa with the rain, and he has a very rocky turnout. Pasture turnout is
only good 4 months out of the year. On the first appointment, I
noticed that his weight was very low,

BlackJack on November 23, 2007. At this time he has a disconnected
hoof wall and under-run heels.

BlackJack on November 23, 2007. This is his left front hoof; he needs a lot more sole callous and a much healthier frog.

Filling BlackJack's boots on November 23, 2007. Due to the very wet
weather and his rocky turnout, I had to seal off the sole and keep him
comfortable.

January 23, 2008 - this is only his second trim.
As you can tell, he has a much healthier frog, and we are now
starting to see a great start to sole concavity.
Wendy

First trim on November 15, 2007. After many different trims and shoe styles, the owner is now trying natural hoof care. The problem has followed this mare for over two years.

November 15, 2007. As you can see, the impact to the wall followed all the way to the sole.

Third trim on January 4, 2008. We are making great progress. Even the sole and frog are doing better.

Sixth trim on March 31, 2008. We have almost grown to the huge hole in the wall.

As you can see, a good trim can help your horse! Look again at the picture below of where we started 5 months ago:

Time

On July 7, 2007, Time can hardly walk and spends most of her day on the ground.

November 28, 2007. She is up more often, and we have started growing out the new hoof.

January 23, 2008. She can now go out to graze! The success is ongoing.

February 18, 2008. Time is looking better; she now spends more time on her hooves.
